Get a Library Card

Your Algona Public Library card opens the door to a world of information and entertainment: books, e-books, movies, audiobooks, online newspaper and magazine articles, library computers and more. All you need to get started is a library card. Library cards are free to residents of Algona and beyond.

  • Please bring valid photo identification when you come in to register for a library card.

  • If you are ages 13-17, you can show ID or have a parent or guardian sign for you.

  • Children between the ages of 0 and 12 may get a Children’s Library card, which must remain at the Library.

  • A parent or guardian must sign for anyone under age 13.

  • Parents should be aware that, in accordance with Section 22.7 (13), Code of Iowa, they will not have access to records of what their child checks out. Some parents may wish to check out materials for their child on the parent’s card to facilitate access to this information.
