Residents of Algona can now be notified of emergency situations by high-speed telephone notification service.  The CodeRED system will allow City safety officials to deliver messages targeted to a specific area or the entire community at a rate of up to 60,000 calls an hour.  Messages will inform residents of the dangerous situation and give instructions for immediate action.

The CodeRED system can deliver messages to a live person, an answering machine or voice mail.  This system will only be used for emergency purposes, when rapid and accurate notification is essential for life safety.

Help Us Help You In Case Of An Emergency……In order for the system to deliver a message to you, contact information for your household must be accurate.  CodeRED has access to County 911 information as well as another database furnished by their company.  However, you are the most reliable source of information about how to reach members of your household.  We strongly encourage you to register for CodeRED by clicking the Sign Up Now link above.  In addition to your home phone number, you may register an alternate number such as a cell phone or work number.  After you register the first two numbers, you can start the registration again and enter more phone numbers for your address.

When you click on Submit, the information goes directly to CodeRED and your household contact information will be immediately updated in their database.  This information will be kept private and will not be shared or sold.

Businesses located in Algona should also register.  When you click the Sign Up Now link a Residential Data Collection form will open.  Click on the button labeled ‘Click to Switch to Business Data’ and fill in the required information.
